About

Naxos the island
Naxos is the biggest of the Cyclades islands in Greece. With 429km2 it provides enough room to cycle, but without getting overwhelmed. It offers the cyclist hills, mountains, views on the blue seas of the Aegean, roads and trails. You can do road cycling and MTB. You could even get a gravel or CX bike and hit the tamer gravel or dirt roads.
Most of the island is hilly, but for beginner cyclists and those who want to take it easier there are the areas close to the main town of Chora. Things are flatter over there and you are close to the sea.
The site naxos.bike
On this site I want to give you an introduction to cycling on Naxos, with ideas for routes, info on climbs, hints and tips. I'm starting out with a little bit of content, and will put more stuff as I go along.
The site is organized in some sections:
- News is a blog-style log of info on site updates and other "news-y" information
- Info is about general useful info about the island, travelling here, etc.
- Road and Offroad are sections of texts that fit for these categories of cycling, e.g. route descriptions, climbs, where to go and all that.
- And then you get an RSS feed of every that you can subscribe in your RSS reader. There are additional RSS feeds in each section for posts that are only in those sections.

... and me
My name is Sascha Welter. I've been cycling on Naxos since 2013. I do mostly road cycling, with the occasional CX/gravel and MTB ride. I enjoy riding with company from all over the world whenever I have the chance. I also enjoy showing the island that I have made my home to others, and to give them useful information about cycling here. That's why I created this site.
